Beginning with the Class of 2016, SDUSD students are expected to demonstrate proficiency in English and a language other than English in order to satisfy the district's high school graduation requirements. Six options are available so that all students are able to meet the world language graduation requirement.

The SDUSD world language graduation requirement is based on the UC/CSU "E" admission requirement. The equivalent of two years of study of the same world language is required, although three years are highly recommended.
