CA State Seal of Biliteracy

The Seal of Biliteracy has been established in support of the following purposes:

• To encourage students to maintain an extended sequence of study that leads to high levels of proficiency in two or more languages;

• To recognize the Cultural and Linguistic diversity of our San Diego Community;

• To provide employers with a method by which to identify prospective employees with languages and biliteracy skills; and

• To provide universities with a method by which to confer academic credit to applicants seeking admission.
